Sodas or Mineral Waters--1840's Pontiled TWITCHELL Soda - No damage

Here's another common Philly soda in your average color and strike, but with a very unique top treatment. TWITCHELL / T (OPEN BLOCK) / PHILAD.A - SUPERIOR / T (OPEN BLOCK) / MINERAL WATER Condition wise the bottle has been cleaned, with very little remaining wear, dings or scratches, but some evidence of water scaling remains on the exterior. Basically a deep aqua or light blue-green color--not apple green as it appears next to the light teal blue Riddle (see my emerald green Twitchell for sale to compare). I cleaned this one further on the inside and brightened the bottle up a bit. What sets this one apart is the long neck and early style top, almost like an inverted taper from a Pittsburgh porter, laid over a sheared top. Even for a Twitchell this is an unusual lip treatment--dates to 1848-49. One of the early mineral water molds, this one has a nice deep kickup pontil. See the link below for some dating info on Twitchell. He went to a smooth base in the late 50's and bottled spruce beer in that straight shouldered mold which comes smooth based and pontiled.
